Density & Viscosity

Density and viscosity meters provide critical process measurements of liquids and gases. Micro Motion meters are based on a vibrating-element principle whereby vibration frequency is inversely proportional to fluid density, yet each has a unique design to optimize performance for the desired measurement. The viscosity meters build on the same vibrating-element principle while also measuring additional characteristics of the frequency signal.

Flow

Flow Measurement is the process of measuring fluid in your plant or industry. You can measure flow through a variety of different Rosemount devices such as magnetic, vortex and differential pressure flow meters.

Magnetic flow meters are often selected because they are obstructionless, cost-effective for aggressive chemicals and slurries and provide highly accurate volumetric flow measurement. A range of liner materials, electrode options and line sizes accommodate a wide variety of process applications. Additionally, magnetic flowmeters can measure fluids bi-directionally, are effective for both very low and high volume flow rates, and are immune to changes in process variables.

Vortex flow meters offer many advantages for flow measurement including easy installation without impulse lines, no moving parts to maintain or repair, less leak potential and a wide flow turndown range. Vortex flow meters also offer very low power consumption, allowing for use in remote areas. Additionally, vortex meters are unique in that they can accommodate liquids, gasses, steam and corrosive applications. Vortex flow meters are also able to withstand high process pressures and temperatures.

As one of the most common technologies for measuring flow, differential pressure (DP) flow has a long history of achieving high accuracy and durability. This measurement technology enables compensated flow, pressure, and temperature readings from a single flowmeter solution, in some cases eliminating the need for impulse lines. Rosemount flow meters can be delivered pre-configured, leak tested, and ready-to-install, reducing installation time and costs while increasing overall plant productivity.

The basic operation of Coriolis flow meters is based on the principles of motion mechanics. As fluid moves through a vibrating tube it is forced to accelerate as it moves toward the point of peak-amplitude vibration. Conversely, decelerating fluid moves away from the point of peak amplitude as it exits the tube. The result is a twisting reaction of the flow tube during flowing conditions as it traverses each vibration cycle.

Pressure

With over 50 years of experience, Rosemount™ pressure instrumentation provide solutions to critical measurement challenges even in the harshest environments.

Pressure technology solutions include capacitive, piezoresistive and other sensors to provide essential process data in differential, gauge and absolute pressure applications. These sensors measure pressure, level, flow and derivatives by physically responding to the changes in process pressure, converting the physical movement into an electrical signal.

Multivariable measurement capability enhances operations by measuring static and differential pressure and temperature in a single device.
